SolentBirds is a citizen science project designed to help scientists gather data on, and gain a greater understanding of, how birds use the area around the Solent network.
Currently, the degree to which overwintering waders and wildfowl move around the Solent between feeding and roosting areas is poorly understood. The data collected by this app will help us to fill in the blanks and ultimately enable us to understand how the loss or change in use of a site could negatively affect the network of sites that the birds rely upon. This will lead to improved decision making about development in the area and help to ensure that the right balance of sites remains available for the important bird life of the area.
This app enables you to record a single ad-hoc sighting of a species or to survey an entire area. There is a built in ID guide to all the species of interest, including text descriptions, photo galleries and the calls of each bird.
